Exporters are already feeling the overseas competition breathing down their necks with a dollar that is climbing in value. For the shippers & freight forwarders alike there is no alternative, but to improvise with savings whenever possible or implement new innovative ideas whether, manufacturing with new product lines, quality control or creating appealing marketing with developing a brand name transcending the uptrend currency.
Pushing concepts forward
Initiators will plow through any new landscape & adapt opening new siphon. Others will retract & suffer the down turn full on.
Personality type
The Spychology behind renewals stands with grasping, digesting the situation & forging a path that takes you from where you are to where you want to be. Often the fear of it is the catalysts for channeling once focus.

The importers
2015 is bright, our strong dollar will have you buy more for less or buy better quality for less than you could have in the early quarters of 2014.
Freight rates for importing goods from overseas can be driven low by developing countries & forcing forwarders to always re-evaluate their freight rates and the equivalent services. The slow boats from China with a Chinese forwarder will cost the shippers less than the faster boats using a fully integrating freight network controlled by your all American forwarders, customhouse brokers. Too often, the USA importers make the mistake to delegate the handling of their purchase and the incoming shipments to the foreign suppliers creating a great opening for a disater ranging from the loss of your investment to a poor management of your shipment with surplus of time & costly delays. All along keeping you in the dark, you being guilty of gambling with your overseas suppliers.
Preventing poor shipping experiences
Importers should not let their overseas suppliers control the purchase of the goods along with the handling of your shipment through their own network under the pretext that it is less expensive. Too much is at stake, your shipment & what the future of it holds.
Choose your licensed USA forwarder from the port of entry. That you need a mini landbridge to Mid-America, Gulf or East Coats inland destinations most full or less than a container load will go through Los Angeles / Long Beach Ports.
Integrating the shipping, terminal, USA clearance & delivery
Importers with good judgments would work through a USA forwarders with an accomplished, experienced world network to re-group all the shipping, clearing & delivery phases into one comprehensive freight proposal that keeps you in the driver seat away from whatever is lost in translation.

Importing or Exporting
Whether air or ocean shipping, where do you begin? Importers / exporters have enough responsibilities to find a market & a product on their own.
Importers; once a product & the supplier are located, you initiate pricing of the goods based on a free on board (FOB departure port/airport). Do not involve your overseas supplier for the freight. Request a pro-forma invoice before you place a formal order with description and the harmonized system number per item (HS code#), along with the unit price, weight & dimensions of the packed shipment. The HS code # will drive your duty rate & should be known prior to placing a formal order. Your freight forwarder here in the USA will then get you each phase priced to your door (curb side).
Exporters; Once your customer makes contact with you, supply them with a free on board (FOB departure port/airport) pricing. I recommend that you send them a pro-forma invoice before they place a formal order with description, harmonized system number per item (HS code#), unit price, weight & dimensions of the packed shipment. The HS code # will drive their duty rate. If you want to supply a freight quote then your pro-forma should read C&F or CIF destination port or airport.
